Location: Gloucestershire Salary: NJC Grade I (Points 18–20) £34,434 – £36,363 (FTE) Actual Salary: £30,642 – £32,359 (pro rata) Contract: Permanent Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week (term-time only – 39 weeks) Work location: In person

Reed Education are working in partnership with a specialist provision in Gloucestershire to recruit an experienced and dedicated Pastoral Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people’s social, emotional, and behavioural development, particularly within a SEND setting.

The Role:

As Pastoral Manager, you will lead and develop high-quality pastoral provision, working closely with school leaders to ensure pupils are supported to succeed both academically and personally.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading and developing the school’s pastoral care provision
• Monitoring and improving behaviour and attendance
• Designing and delivering targeted interventions, including emotional literacy support
• Developing and reviewing individual behaviour support plans
• Supporting pupils with additional needs to fully engage in school life
• Using data to evaluate intervention impact and inform next steps
• Providing guidance and training to staff on pastoral strategies
• Working closely with parents, carers, and external agencies
• Contributing to safeguarding practices and promoting pupil wellbeing
• Leading on positive handling approaches across the setting

The Ideal Candidate:

Essential:

• GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Maths (Level 2 or above)
• Experience supporting pupil wellbeing, behaviour, or pastoral needs
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Ability to analyse data and improve outcomes
• Commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and pupil welfare
• Ability to work calmly under pressure and demonstrate strong initiative

Desirable:

• Experience working with pupils with additional needs, including autism
• Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience
• Safeguarding training (Level 3 or above)
• Experience leading initiatives or delivering training
• De-escalation or physical intervention training

This role is based within a specialist educational setting supporting pupils aged 4–16 with a range of additional needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties, SEMH, and learning differences.
